WTF? is a unique and dynamic space, initially building upon Vector Research’s 25 year intelligence bank covering social issues, enterprise and urban life. Of course we were involved in plenty of bean-counting “research” projects to pay the salaries and rent over that period, but Vector also worked on a host of innovative projects with some brilliant clients - striving to make a difference. On other occasions we unearthed some policies, actions & incidents which we could politely describe as sub-optimal.
It would be remiss NOT to highlight some of these “moments” in the Vector journey (sorry for that word) - not least because they are valid in providing a neat commentary on the UK 1996 to 2021 AND informing the discussion going forward. From the cringe-worthy to the brilliant, the depressing to the funny - it’s now time to write a few wrongs (and a few rights!)
Paul Baker was Vector’s MD from lauch in 1996 and will kick-off these debates for Vector vr2 via the WTF? blog suite. From Benefits Street to bike routes, leisure to learning, poverty to place promotion, sport to the environment - there is a flashpoint in our vault ready to ignite wider interest…..and may even generate some laughter. Do sign up and enjoy the ride!
Oh……and a tiny amount of primary research will continue from Hylton Street under the Velocity@Vector banner but only with identified clients - or as a primer to discussion. But if you need a pointer towards a supplier just CONTACT US.

Vector Research Limited 1996 to 2021
vector noun [ C ] us / ˈvek·tər / physics a representation of something that has both direction and mass
Our raison d’etre was - whenever possible - to provide intelligence that had “direction” via innovative ways of understanding - and “mass” which involved higher rates of engagement and penetration than the industry norms - particularly with under represented groups
Defining WTF?
wtf/abbreviation uk & USA/common in social media/watching testing finding
Okay, it may stand for an expletive laden exclamation….but then anyone who had experienced some of the events and outcomes during the Vector voyage might have used an angst-ridden comment! Just follow the WTF link and sign up to the blog, as we plot another journey - revisiting some of those conflict points, controversies and places of interest from a wholly objective standpoint. Plus - just occasionally - some cheeky nonsense.
